I've been a home cook for 20 years, and this is the first knife that feels like an extension of my hand. The forged blade is exceptionally sharp and holds its edge for months. The smoked oak handle is not only gorgeous but also provides a secure grip, even when my hands are wet. It's a joy to use for everything from dicing onions to carving a roast. At $42.50, it's a bargain for a Wüsthof. I'm already planning to buy the matching paring knife.

The blade is top-notch, but the oak handle is a bit smooth and can slip if your hands are oily. A good pinch grip helps, but I'd prefer a more textured material. Still, I recommend it.
